Vehicle Warning Lights

Understanding Your Dodge Dashboard Warning Lights

Your Dodge vehicle’s dashboard is designed to keep you informed — especially when something needs your attention. But with so many warning symbols, it can be difficult to know what each one means and how urgent the issue is.

At Chris Crain Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat in Benton, AR, we’ve created this helpful guide to explain the most common Dodge warning lights so you can drive confidently and know when to schedule service.

BROWSE OUR NEW DODGE INVENTORY HERE IN BENTON

Dashboard Light Colors: What They Indicate

2024 Dodge Hornet Tire

Why Tire Pressure Matters for Your Dodge

Whether you’re driving a powerful Dodge Charger, versatile Durango, or sporty Hornet, maintaining the correct tire pressure is essential. Proper tire inflation helps:

  • Maximize fuel efficiency
  • Improve handling and safety
  • Prolong the life of your tires
  • Enhance overall vehicle performance

At Chris Crain CDJRF in Benton, AR, we know how important tire care is to your vehicle’s long-term health — and your safety.

The Impact of Incorrect Tire Pressure

✘ Underinflated Tires:

  • Reduce fuel efficiency by 1–2 mpg
  • Increase rolling resistance
  • Cause uneven tire wear
  • Make braking and cornering less effective

✘ Overinflated Tires:

  • Reduce grip on the road
  • Increase the risk of a blowout
  • Create a harsh ride quality
  • Lead to premature tire wear

Recommended Tire Pressure for Dodge Vehicles

For most Dodge models, the recommended tire pressure falls between 32–36 psi, but this can vary depending on your specific trim and driving conditions.

✔ Where to Find Your Dodge’s Tire Pressure Info:

  • Driver’s side door placard
  • Owner’s manual
  • Glovebox label

⚠️ Do NOT use the number on the tire’s sidewall — that’s the maximum pressure, not the recommended driving pressure.

How to Check Your Dodge’s Tire Pressure

You can easily check your tire pressure using a digital or analog tire pressure gauge.

Steps:

  1. Wait at least 10 minutes after driving to ensure tires are cold.
  2. Remove the valve cap and press the gauge onto the valve stem.
  3. Read the PSI level and compare it to your Dodge’s recommended pressure.
  4. Add or release air as needed.
  5. Don’t forget to check your spare tire, too!

When and How Often to Check Tire Pressure

  • Check once per month
  • Always check before long road trips
  • Check more frequently during temperature changes (e.g., summer to fall)

🧊 Cold weather causes air to contract, often lowering pressure by 1–2 psi.

Signs Your Dodge May Have Incorrect Tire Pressure

You don’t always need a gauge to know something’s off. Here are a few red flags:

  • Poor fuel economy
  • Uneven tire wear
  • Sluggish handling or reduced grip
  • TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) warning light
  • Bulging or flat-looking tires

If you notice these issues, visit Chris Crain CDJRF for a tire inspection.

Tire Pressure Tips for Off-Roading Dodge SUVs

If you drive a Dodge Durango or another SUV off-road:

  • Lower tire pressure slightly for better grip on sand or trails
  • Inflate back to road settings after off-road use
  • Monitor pressure closely to avoid damage or blowouts on rugged terrain

Dodge Tire Maintenance Tips

  • Rotate tires every 6,000–8,000 miles
  • Replace tires every 5–6 years, even with good tread
  • Schedule regular wheel alignments to reduce wear
  • Always inspect tires for cracks, bulges, or embedded objects

2025 Jeep Wrangler

Why Choosing the Right Jeep Wrangler Tires Matters

Your Jeep Wrangler deserves tires that can handle any road — or no road at all. The right tires can mean the difference between getting stuck in the mud or cruising confidently through Benton or the backcountry. At Chris Crain Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, we help Jeep owners find the perfect tires for their lifestyle, whether they’re commuting or tackling off-road trails.

Best All-Terrain Tires for Jeep Wrangler

All-terrain tires offer the perfect blend of off-road grip and on-road comfort. They’re a top choice for Jeep drivers who split their time between highway driving and weekend adventures.

1. BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2

A Jeep club favorite, the KO2 offers aggressive tread and rugged sidewalls. It’s durable, reliable, and surprisingly quiet — great for all-season performance.

2. Falken WILDPEAK A/T3W

Excellent in snow, rain, and off-road conditions, the A/T3W uses a silica compound for grip and durability. Deep treads handle slush while still riding smooth on the highway.

3. Toyo Open Country A/T III

This tire combines traction and quiet comfort with a 65,000-mile warranty. It’s severe snow-rated and perfect for Wranglers that face changing Arkansas weather.

4. Nitto Ridge Grappler

A hybrid between all-terrain and mud-terrain, this tire is ideal for Wrangler drivers who want off-road capability with commuter comfort.

Top Mud-Terrain Tires for Serious Off-Roading

If your Wrangler lives for the trail, mud-terrain tires offer the aggressive grip needed for rocks, mud, and deep ruts — with some tradeoffs in fuel economy and road noise.

1. Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

Kevlar-reinforced for extra durability, these tires shed mud and snow, perform well on trails, and stay relatively quiet for daily use.

2. Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T

Optimized for traction and noise reduction, these aggressive street-legal tires dominate sand, mud, and rock with excellent handling.

3. Firestone Destination M/T2

Open tread and stone-rejecting tech make these ideal for Arkansas’s toughest trails. Improved street stability gives them daily driving potential too.

4. Cooper Discoverer STT Pro

Engineered for extreme terrain, the STT Pro clears mud quickly with “Mud Slinger 2.0” and protects against rock damage using “Stone Armor” tech.

Best All-Season Tires for Jeep Wrangler Daily Drivers

If your Wrangler mostly stays on paved roads with light off-road use, all-season tires are a smart pick. They ride quietly, save gas, and handle a variety of weather conditions.

1. Bridgestone Dueler H/T 685

Symmetrical tread patterns provide a smooth, quiet ride with reliable traction on pavement. Ideal for Benton’s mild winter conditions.

2. Nokian One H/T

Designed for pothole resistance and wet road traction, these tires bring Finnish engineering to Arkansas roads — great for rural and city driving alike.

3. General Grabber HTS60

Durable yet comfortable, the Grabber HTS60 offers responsive steering, wet-weather grip, and rugged styling options for your Wrangler.

Why Tire Pressure Matters for Your Chrysler

Keeping the right tire pressure in your Chrysler isn’t just about comfort — it directly affects your safety, fuel economy, and vehicle performance.
Driving with underinflated or overinflated tires can:

  • Increase fuel costs
  • Cause uneven tire wear
  • Reduce traction and braking performance
  • Raise the risk of tire blowouts

At Chris Crain Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat in Benton, AR, we want to help you keep your vehicle running its best. That’s why we created this easy-to-follow tire pressure guide!

Finding the Correct Tire Pressure for Your Chrysler

Checking your Chrysler’s recommended tire pressure is simple:

  • Look for a sticker on the driver’s side door jamb, inside the fuel door, or on the sun visor.
  • This label shows the correct PSI (pounds per square inch) for your specific model and tires.

For example:

  • Many Chrysler 200 models recommend around 36–38 PSI.
  • Some models may show a lower PSI, such as 32 PSI, depending on tire type and design.

Important: Always follow your vehicle’s sticker — not the maximum PSI listed on the tire sidewall. The manufacturer’s recommendation is based on the best handling, load balance, and safety for your car.

How to Adjust Your Tire Pressure

Topping off your Chrysler’s tires is easy:

  1. Remove the valve cap from the tire’s valve stem.
  2. Attach the air compressor nozzle firmly onto the valve.
  3. Add air in short bursts, checking the pressure after each burst with a tire gauge.
  4. If you overfill, press the valve pin to release a little air.
  5. Replace the valve cap when done.

Proper tire pressure improves traction, braking, and handling, while also extending your tire life.
Be careful not to overinflate — too much pressure can make tires more vulnerable to potholes and rough roads.

Tire Pressure Changes With Weather and Driving

Tire pressure isn’t a set-it-and-forget-it task. Temperature changes can cause big differences:

  • For every 10°F drop in temperature, your tire pressure drops about 1 PSI.
  • Tires also warm up while you drive, naturally increasing pressure by 2–4 PSI.

Tips to remember:

  • Always check your tire pressure when the tires are cold (before driving).
  • In fall and winter, check tire pressure more often.
  • When carrying heavy loads, you may need to adjust your pressure slightly higher — check your owner’s manual for guidance.
  • Watch for unusual tire wear, which could signal pressure problems.

Meet the Dodge Brothers

When you think of powerful Dodge vehicles like the Dodge Durango or Dodge Challenger, you have two brothers to thank: John Francis Dodge and Horace Elgin Dodge.
They helped create the Dodge brand, which is now known for building strong, reliable cars and trucks.

Let’s take a look at their journey and how it led to the Dodge vehicles we know and love today.

Growing Up and Early Work

John and Horace Dodge grew up in Niles, Michigan. Their dad owned a machine shop, so they learned about tools and machines from a young age.

In 1886, their family moved to Detroit, Michigan, where the brothers worked hard in factories. They learned how to fix and build machines, and they quickly became skilled workers.

Before Building Cars: Bicycles and Machine Parts

Before they made cars, the Dodge brothers built bicycles. Horace created a special dirt-proof ball bearing that made their bikes better than others.
With John’s business skills and Horace’s creative ideas, they started the Evans & Dodge Bicycle Company.

Later, they sold the bike company and opened a machine shop in Detroit. They started making parts for cars, and their work caught the attention of big car companies.

Helping Build Oldsmobile and Ford

The Dodge brothers first made transmissions for the Oldsmobile company. They did such a great job that Ford Motor Company asked them to help build engines and other parts for Ford cars.

From 1903 to 1913, the Dodge brothers worked closely with Ford. They even became part-owners of the company! Their shop grew so big that they had to open a second factory to keep up with orders.

Starting Their Own Car Company

In 1913, John and Horace Dodge decided it was time to make their own cars. They wanted to build vehicles that were stronger and better than the ones already on the road.

In 1914, they introduced the Dodge Model 30, a car made to compete with Ford’s famous Model T. During World War I, they also built trucks and ambulances to help the military.

After the war, they focused on making vehicles for everyday people — and Dodge became a popular name in America.

What Happened After the Dodge Brothers Passed Away

Sadly, both Dodge brothers died in 1920 because of the flu. Their families later sold the company to a group of investors.
However, these investors didn’t know much about making cars, and Dodge began to struggle.

In 1928, Walter P. Chrysler bought the Dodge company and saved it. Dodge became part of the Chrysler group, and the brand started focusing more on performance, style, and strong trucks and cars.

During World War II, Dodge built vehicles to help the military again. After the war, Dodge returned to making fast, powerful cars — something it’s still known for today.

Dodge Today: A Brand Built on Strength

Thanks to John and Horace Dodge’s hard work, Dodge grew into a brand known for performance, toughness, and innovation.

From muscle cars like the Dodge Charger and Challenger to family-friendly SUVs like the Durango, Dodge keeps pushing forward while honoring its strong roots.
